Antonelli Contrario Rosso - Umbria
Bottle size: 750ml
Fermentation in contact with the skins for 10-15 days, malolactic fermentation, clarification without filtration. Aged in stainless steel vats for 12 months; assembling and clarifying in cement vats for 3 months; bottle ageing for 4 months. A rich and intense nose, featuring fruits, cherry, wild berries and citrus. Subtle scents of aromatic herbs. Elegant and fresh on the palate. Very persistent and fruity finish.
Impressive full-bodied 100% Sangrantino, classified as an IGT in this case, due to the shorter aging period compared to Antonelli’s DOCG Sangrantino. Inky black colour and smoky earthy wild herb aromas amidst ripe dark fruit and hints of bitter chocolate and tar, usher in a persuasive action packed palate with similar notes to the nose, wrapped firmly in Sangrantino’s signature chewy black tea like tannin structure. Serious meats and strong yellow cheese please. Lovely stuff!
The Antonelli vineyard has been owned by the Antonelli family since 1881, who also harvests timber, olives and grain. Filippo Antonelli has been at the helm of the estate since 1986. Set in the picturesque hills of Umbria, the vineyard is at an altitude of 350 m, with deep alluvial, clay soils. Their wines respect the tradition of the region, showing elegance and balance. Very well regarded in the Umbrian region, they are consistently awarded 2 bicchieri in the Gamberro Rosso Guide for their wines.
Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)
In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.
The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").
Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.
For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.
Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
