Beechworth Biodynamic Pioneers
One of the vinous jewels of the ultra-premium Beechworth region in northern Victoria. Sorrenberg is a 2.5-hectare biodynamic vineyard and winery founded in 1985 by Barry Morey and his wife Jan.
They are quiet achievers who without too much fanfare craft beautiful complex wines that give more than a nod to the excellent wines of Burgundy and Bordeaux in France. Barry makes a Sauvignon/Semillion that consistently gets scored into the stratospheres by wine scribes, a lovely complex Sorrenberg Chardonnay, a seriously impressive highly sought after Gamay and an age-worthy refined Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc/Merlot blend.
Yields are also extremely low and winemaking follows traditional methods of low intervention and minimal handling with a focus on high quality at every turn.
Sorrenberg is undoubtedly one of Australia’s greatest small wineries.
